Grilled Salmon

A simple soy sauce and brown sugar marinade, with hints of lemon and garlic, are the perfect salty-sweet complement to rich salmon fillets. Even my 9 year old loves this recipe!

Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds salmon fillets
lemon pepper to taste
garlic powder to taste
salt to taste
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup water
1/4 cup vegetable oil

Directions

Season salmon fillets with lemon pepper, garlic powder, and salt.
In a small bowl, stir together soy sauce, brown sugar, water, and vegetable oil until sugar is dissolved. Place fish in a large resealable plastic bag with the soy sauce mixture, seal, and turn to coat. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Preheat grill for medium heat.
Lightly oil grill grate. Place salmon on the preheated grill, and discard marinade. Cook salmon for 6 to 8 minutes per side, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.

Today, the 25 of July 2006, Apple released Mighty Mouse: Wireless. The new wireless mouse features the same functions of the wired Mighty Mouse, but the portability of Wireless. The mouse has bluetooth connectivity, Laser tracking, and you can power it from one or two AA batteries.

"The MacBook Family is Complete", are the words on the Apple.com website right now. That is correct, the Intel iBook replacement is here. The iBook only survived eight years, but the replacement is much better. The MacBook as it is called comes in 3 models, the base model with a Core Duo 1.83 Ghz starts at only $1,099. The next model, featuring a 2.0Ghz Core Duo, with 60 Gig Hard Drive starts at $1,299. And the biggest shocker of all, the black model, with 2.0Ghz Core Duo processor, and 80Gig Hard Drive, starts at $1,499.

Apple has started their new ad campaign. "Get a Mac" is what it is called, and I love it. They have these funny commercials which I cannot believe my eyes, looks better than some of the 80's ads! Apple Releases Aperture 1.1!

Well, one day after releasing Remote Desktop 3, Apples does it again! Aperture, Apples professional photo editing and processing product gets a face-lift! Aperture 1.1 is now universal, and the same price as it predecessor, $299, which I believe is cheaper than before. I really like Aperture and am hopping to be getting this new universal version of it. Boy it would look great on my 20" iMac Core Duo! ;-)

Apple, today introduced Remote Desktop version 3. This software is great for managing a bunch of Macs over the network in your home, or business. The introduction of version 3 is even better than RD 2. And, RD 3 is universal, so it will work with the Intel Macs!

Apple Does Windows!?

Apple has released a piece of software for Tiger, and the new Intel Macs. This software updates does, the way Apples does, lets you easily install Windows XP Pro/Home on your Intel Mac. This software install partitions your macs hard drive, and you do the rest. I will probably never uses BootCamp, but I believe this will make people want to switch to Mac even more! Apple Computer was started on April 1, 1976; by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniack. Apple's first computer was the Apple I, which sold for $666.66. Apple began to grow into a larger company in the early 80's, with the Introduction of the Lisa, and Macintosh computers. The Macinotsh was introduced in 1984, which raised a large hype shortly before with a superbowl ad campaign in which the speaker said "On January 24, Apple Computer will introduce Macintosh, and you will see why 1984 won't be like '1984'." Around 1986 Steve Jobs left Apple, and started NeXT Computer. NeXT became a great OS/Computer mix that evolve later into Mac OS X when Apple bought them out in the late 90's. Despite all the hardwork that Apple had done in the Computer Industry, they almost went under around 1996. Apple's CEO, Gil Amelio, asked Steve to come back and assume his position as Cheif Executive Officer of Apple. Steve did, and at the 1996 MacWorld Expo, had a real suprise, and a few words about Apple, and where they were heading. Steve stated at that MacWorld that he would be coming back as CEO, and that Microsoft had bought $100,000 of Apple Stock, in which they would not sell for five years; Also Apple would make Internet Explorer default on the Mac OS, this did not last for long however. From that point on Apple had continued to bring people to their platform, and in late 2001 announced 'iPod', Apple's introduction into the MP3 market. Also in 2001, Apple opened their first retail store; and in 2006, Apple had opened over 125 of their own retail stores, in which they average around 1,000,000 visitors every week. Steve Jobs announced the first of the new Intel Macs in January 2006, and later in March 2006, Apple had moved half of their product line over to the new Intel chips. Apple still remains stronger than ever, with hundreds of 'switchers' every month.

Yes! Finally, I get my iMac that I have been waiting sooooo long and patiently (well maybe not that patiently...anyway). I am going to the Apple Store and getting my 20" iMac Core Duo!!!!! So... yes this does mean that the podcast will be able to get up and running (soon!). I will be blogging from the Apple Store (YAYYAYAYAYAYYAAYAYYA!!!) and will be looking at the Hi-Fi, Mac Mini, and Mac Book among other things.

Apple Special Event

The Apple Special Event yielded a couple of new products from the Apple Developers. Steve Jobs announced a new Mac Mini with Front Row, and a remote. They also released a much needed set of speakers from Apple for the iPod. The Hi-Fi Sound System is just this product, it incorporates a speaker system, and a dock for the iPod. I leave you with a product shot of the new Mac Mini, and the Hi-Fi Sound System. Jobs also announced that Apple will begin making leather iPod cases for the iPod 5th Generation, and iPod Nano, the iPod cases will cost $99 (U.S.) I will have reviews, and much more information about these products released by Apple a little later, so check back soon!

Aperture: Review

While I was testing and writing my reviews for the iMac Core Duo, iLife '06, and iWork '06; I had time to carefully look at Aperture. Aperture is Apples $499.99 program for digital professionals. while this program will currently not run on the Intel Macs, Apple is supposed to be making universal version of all of their pro applications by early May 2006 (this is not a long way to wait, however if you already have a copy of any of Apple's digital pro applications, you may be able to "Cross-upgrade" your program to a universal version, starting at only $49.99 US. I was really impressed by the speed of Aperture (I was using a PowerMac G5, reviewed Here.). It is able to open "raw" images, and fix them almost immediately. I really liked the layout view, where you can arrange the images on the screen, just as if you would lay them out on a table. Some of the the other features include: the ability to create high-resolution books from the images in your library, full screen working, and viewing of images side-by-side. I really like Aperture, and hope that Apple keeps up the program!

iLife '06: Review

iLife '06

The iLife suite of "anti-productivity" tools has gotten better, and more integrated in this great release. iWeb, a website creation tool, is the new member of the iLife family. Below are some of the new features, broken-down by product.

iTunes- this is a free program, bundled with iLife, the only updated (6.0.2) is a new mini store feature, which offers music as you listen to your library.

iMovie- New to iMovie is the ability to create a title movie, open multiple projects, and a sound editor, and the ability to create more text effects.

iDVD- You can now create a "Magic iDVD" in a snap, new themes, and a new interface makes this program even better.

Garageband- new podcast studio, with added loops, and jingles, makes this program alone worth the cost of the entire suite.

iPhoto- new photocast lets you share your photos with people via a photo RSS feed. Additional books, cards, calendars, and the new editing in full-screen, makes this a good upgrade.

iWeb- this is the new addition to the iLife family, this is a really great, and handy tool for creating websites on the go. iWeb features many Apple designed templates (or you can start from scratch and make your own). Then you just enter in the information, add links, music, photos, and podcasts, click upload, and all the RSS, and encoding is done for you! Your site can be uploaded to .Mac, or you can save the files as .HTML, and upload them to your own server.

This was a really big (and much needed) upgrade to iLife. All of the upgrades really make this an amazing version of iLife.

iWork '06: Review

Wow, you just thought iWork '05 was really great, wait until you have a chance to see some of the new features in iWork '06! Some of the new features include: the ability to create even more stunning presentations, documents, tables (that will now auto-calculate!), and really stunning 3D graphs, which have wood-grain textures. iWork '06 includes, Pages 2, and Keynote 3, and great fun creating documents, and presentations! Some of the new features in Pages is that it includes so many more templates, and the ability to create your own custom shapes, and then drop an image onto it. Then, check out the new reflections tool, which puts a glass-looking reflection below your pictures; and look at the new graphs! Even greater is the fact that if you drop a picture into your document or presentation, you have the ability, with one click, to make adjustments to the image, without even leaving Pages, or Keynote! This is just one more amazing product, from the greatest company, Apple.

iMac (Core Duo): Review

iMac (Core Duo)

I took a look at the first of the new Intel Macs. The first thing that you notice about the iMac Core Duo, is it looks just like the iMac G5 (iSight). It does not have any new cosmetic features. The second thing that you notice, is that the thing is blazingly fast! It runs iLife '06, iWork '06, and the built-in apps (ex. Safari) really fast. It even runs Microsoft Office version 2004 really fast, even though this Power PC app. is running over the OS X integrated Rosetta, which allows you to run "most" of the PPC (Power PC) software on the new Macs. Overall, this is an amazing computer (but hey, It's from Apple!).

Finally an easy way to listen to radio stations on your iPod! This handy little remote control allows you easy access to an FM station in your area.

3: iLife '06
The handy set of "Anti-Production" tools. This new release includes some new features, and even a new Application!
- iTunes: Your favorite (and really only way) to listen to your music on your Mac.

- iPhoto: A great way to store, edit, show, share, and create with your pictures. This version got even better, Store - this version allows you to store over 250,000 pictures. Steve says that is would be like if you took 1,000 pictures every month for 20 years. Show - this version of iPhoto allows you to edit pictures in full screen mode, with photo comparison. Share - great new tools to share your pictures, are you getting tired of email pictures? Then... just create what Apple call's a "PhotoCast", this is really a great new way to share photos, if you are a member of .Mac (dot mac). Just tell iPhoto which album you want to create a photocast of, and it will send your pictures to .Mac, and when you allow someone to join, the pictures (all of them in that album that you created a photocast of) will automatically get downloaded on their computer. Create - new books, and added by request, Cards, and Calendars!

- iMovie: The new iMovie is really great, it now adds support so that you can open more than one movie at a time! Some of the new features includes an all new introduction tool, which you can use to create a title movie for your DVD's. I really like this.

- iDVD: New templates and new Magic DVD allows you to create the best DVD's ever!

- Garageband: All new in this release, "PodCast Studio"! Steve showed off this program by creating his own fake-podcast. The PodCast started out, "Hi, this is Steve, and welcome to my podcast, 'Super Secret Apple Rumors'. I have a lot of friends inside Apple, and here is what I am hearing, the next iPod will be huge, an eight pounder with a ten inch screen." I really like the Podcast feature, and will be starting my own podcast too!

- iWeb: This is the newest member of the life suite. What is it you might ask? It is a completely new way to create and publish your Photos, Videos, and Podcast on .Mac (dot mac). Simple one button publishing will make this easier for a whole new generation of bloggers, and people that want to make a website of their own pictures.

4: iWork '06
Apple also released their new version of the productivity suite, "iWork '06", which is a set of two applications, Pages, and Keynote. While not demoing iWork, Steve announced that he used the new Keynote 3 to create the slides for the Apple event.

5: Intel Update
Steve also talked about Intel Macs, when right then, the CEO of Intel walked out suited up, with a silicon wafer in his hand, and said "Intel's Ready!". Steve looked at him, and said "Apple's Ready Too!"

6: iMac
Yes! The first of the new Intel Macs have arrived, and yes, it is the iMac!

7: MacBook Pro
Steve got to talking about the PowerBook, and stated that it is done, they are "Taking the power out!". The MacBook Pro will be taking the PowerBooks place. This is a really nice laptop, little pricey, but really Great! Apple will be shipping these notebooks with the built in iSight, and Front Row (with remote) In February.

Well, it is the Eve of the Apple keynote... Tomorrow is a huge day for Steve! There has been a whole-lotta speculation about what Apple may release tomorrow. However, there is one that really scares me... Someone has rumored Apple to be increasing iTunes prices. I really don't like that idea. iPod 5 Gen. (review)

I have to admit, this iPod was so cool that I had to go out an get one. This iPod plays video, home movies, video podcast, music, photos, regular podcasts, you can put your calendars, contacts, and notes on it. Plus it has such a huge screen that you do not strain your eyes looking at it. This is one great iPod. It sounds better than the older 20GB version. Looks better too! And plus, if you are afraid of someone stealing your iPod, you can use this little program that Apple put on it called "Screen Lock". Screen Lock will use a password to lock your iPod, and you must enter the code to gain access into the iPod. If you forget your code, just take it back to your computer, and dock it, itunes will see it, and unlock it. If you are in the market for an iPod, there is no better time to get one than now!

iMac G5 (review)

iMac - the ultimate all-in-one desktop Apple Computer has had a little refreshing. The second generation iMac is FULL of new features, including the iSight camera built right in! I really liked the original iMac G5, but with this redesign, it is really irresistible. I cannot wait until I get mine. There are two models, the 17" and the 20". Both the 17" and 20" come standard with a SuperDrive, which is Apples all in one DVD buner to burn all types of consumer DVD & CD disks. This is an iMac to remember, Apple really strived to make the ultimate, and perfect All-In-One, and they have achieved this goal. Apple is the best and the brightest computer company in the world, and this computer really shows their ingenuity, and great design staff! Keep going Apple! DID I MENTION, it has a remote control standard, and there are two very cool new apps. for it. Front-Row. which a new Media Center type of program allows you to be across the room and browse your iMovies, iTunes library, and of course your iPhoto library, and watch a DVD video. Photo-Booth, which is a first for Apple is a little app. designed to take advantage of the built in iSight camera. This little app. will take your picture, allow you to morph it, and email, print, and it will even allow you to set it as your system picture.

This is an all around great computer. 5 out of 5!

Xbox 360 is stupid!

You know, I am biased to Microsoft because I am an Apple Fanatic. But with that aside, I will not buy an Xbox 360 because they are stupid. How good do you think a video game system will be the creators of it (Microsoft) CRASH IT when they go to show it off for the fist time. People all around the world are reporting failures of the $300.00 or $400.00 machine. COME ON you really want a piece of junk that will not end up working right?

The New PowerMac G5

This is the new Power Macintosh, I really like this computer, however it does have some overkill on it. One of the features that has done exactly this, is the Dual Core Dual Processor, this thing has 4 (that is right "4", four...) Processors on it. It comes standard with 512 MB of memory (or ram, whichever you prefer to say), which is expandable up to 16 GB, who is going to use this? I don't exactly know! It has a 16x Superdrive, and this superdrive is a dual layer burner (which means you can get this really expensive blank-DVD's, and put in the thing to burn, and it will give you more room on the DVD, because you have twice the storage). Also it has 160 or 250 GB Hardrive (this is based on the model that you choose).

So, check it out for yourself, this is a great tool or the creative professional (or if you just like to say "I have 4 processors") kind of people. Click on the picture to check out the PowerMac G5.

Apple released Aperture, which is there program, which is amazing for Image Manipulation & Editing! I think that this will beat Adobe System's Photoshop in the butt (this is just my opinion though!) I really like it, however, you have to have a Dual G5 to run it, and it takes up a lot of system resources!

I am so glad that I am an Apple Fan. Apple is such a great company. Not only do I just like the company (which I love Apple, and they have such great people working for them) but I also love all of their products. I love the iPod, it has totally changed and revolutionized the way that I listen to my my music! And what can I say about my Mac!, Well, without my Macintosh, I would still be stuck in a windows only world (which is really bad!), and I would not have been able to experience the way computing was meant to be experienced (virus-free, ad-free, spam-free, etc.). I would just like to say keep on going Apple, you have the best digital products on the market, and I will never use anything else!

Apple fixes Dashboard

I just downloaded a widget! Apple has fixed the security issue with Dashboard now with the Latest update 10.4.2. When you start downloading a widget, it annouces "this is an app. would you like to continue", once you click yes, and it downloads, it annouces "we found this widget on your system, would you like to use it". And finnally, when you type F12, and Dashboard comes up, you will see a black box and it says "Would you like to keep this widget, or delete it". I think this is very, very secure now. Keep up the good work Apple!

New Twist With Apple/Intel

I personally like the change to the Intel chips by Apple Computer. What this now means is that Apple has now the power to make a laptop Macintosh that is over a G4 processor, the Intel dealing now make's all of Apples Software run faster than it did on the IBM chipsets. I liked IBM making the PowerPC chips, but they never would have made a PowerPC G5 for a laptop. With Intel, they are able to go over and beyond what Apple and IBM could do with the G chips in Laptops & Desktop computers. Macintosh Laptops & Desktops will now run cooler, and faster than ever before.
